The International Finance Corporation (IFC, member of the World Bank Group) is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging and developing markets. IFC’s Economic and Market Research Department is recruiting highly qualified researchers (Economist / Senior Economist). PhD in economics or corporate or asset markets finance is preferred, with demonstrated interest in emerging/developing economies. The roles and responsibilities of the position will include:
Roles and responsibilities will include:
• Contribute to developing new analytical products, methods, and databases on firms and private sector. Topics include firm financing, private capital mobilization, productivity and competition, technology adoption, climate and sustainability, trade and value chains, and job creation.
• Conduct econometric analysis, using cutting-edge techniques.
• Lead research tasks involving design and implementation of firm-level surveys, including RCTs, as well as harmonization, management, and analysis of existing firm-level datasets.
• Prepare policy reports and research papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Collaborate with senior team members on products for IFC operations, investors, and policymakers.
• Present research findings to internal and external audiences, including private sector clients and policymakers in developing countries.
