Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Graduate School of Economics at Kobe University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate professor (Koshi / Jun-Kyoju in Japanese) position in the specialization of applied economics, such as empirical research on environmental economics, spatial/urban economics, the economics of innovation, behavioral economics, and political economy. Your teaching subjects will be determined by your and other faculty members’ area of specialization.

For the tenure-track position, the initial appointment is for five years with low administrative duties and a reduced teaching load for the candidate. A tenure review will be conducted by the end of the fourth year.

Based on the review of your application materials, we may offer a non-tenure-track position under a five-year fixed-term contract rather than a tenure-track position.

Applicants have to satisfy all of the conditions below.

1. You should possess a Ph.D., be close to completing a Ph.D., or have a publication record that demonstrates the equivalent ability of a Ph.D. Ph.D. candidates will be asked to prepare and submit a document regarding the expected completion of their doctoral degree after the final offer. The document should be written by your supervisor.
2. You should be able to communicate in Japanese (or be willing to learn Japanese) to conduct relevant duties at the school.
3. You should be able to teach at the graduate level in English.

Salary will be determined in accordance with university regulations, and a pension scheme is available.
