The Economics Area of the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly is inviting applicants for a tenure-track, academic year position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applicants should have an active research agenda and should be committed to excellence in teaching and research. Applicants must have an interest and ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate (Masters) level classes in economics. The position is designed to strengthen Cal Poly’s on-going efforts in enhancing DEI climate, thus the candidate is expected to incorporate a DEI emphasis in instruction and research.
Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is anticipated. The anticipated hiring range is: $115,507 to $127,820.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must have completed a doctorate or equivalent degree in Economics or a closely related field from an accredited institution. The Ph.D. should be awarded by the time of appointment in Fall 2024. Applicants are expected to demonstrate exemplary teaching, a strong publication record and research pipeline, and currency in their professional field. Applicants must have the ability to work with diverse students and engage diversity in the curriculum. The candidate must demonstrate a track record of and/or plan for incorporating curricular coverage of areas related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as to promote inclusive teaching strategies.
Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings is required. Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.

Special Conditions
