OCE is a small, collaborative office in which you will serve as an International Economist, conducting analysis and developing policy at the leading edge of the world's most complex and critical economic challenges.

The U.S. Department of State, our country’s lead foreign policy agency, provides employees with a dynamic international career and unique professional development opportunities. You will be responsible for performing economic research on a wide range of strategic international economic policy issues. In addition, successful candidates must have the ability to present their views clearly and concisely in written and oral briefings, often under tight time constraints.

Duties: The Economist undertakes analysis of economic, strategic, and security concerns related to international macroeconomics, finance, including global capital flows and international markets; productivity drivers; transmission of global shocks through goods and financial markets; aggregate economic impacts of industrial policy and trade and investment restrictions; and development. The Economist prepares analytical papers and recommendations on major economic policy issues and presents them for review and decision.
