The School of Business and Economics is looking to fill two
Junior Professorships in “Macroeconomics” (Macroeconomics I and Macroeconomics II)
starting 1 October 2024.

These are tenure track positions, with an initial level W1 and with the possibility of a promotion to level W3. In order to verify whether the individual performance meets the requirements of permanent employment, an evaluation process will be opened not later than after five years of service. Tenure track professors at the HU Berlin are expected to carry out research and teaching duties, as well as be active on various university committees, in the promotion of young scientists and acquire leadership and management skills. The actual requirements as outlined in the framework catalogue [https://hu.berlin/tenuretrack_katalog] will be specified in the course of the appointment process.

The School of Business and Economics seeks individuals with an outstanding track record in macroeconomics as evidenced in refereed publications in leading journals with the vision, leadership and enthusiasm to build upon an internationally recognized research program. Successful candidates have, or will have completed their doctoral degree in economics upon beginning employment. Ideally, one appointment will have a research focus on macroeconomic theory, the other in empirical macroeconomics. Collaboration with other research groups at the department is welcome, notably TRR 190 “Rationality and Competition” and TRR 266 "Accounting for Transparency”, as well as a commitment to promoting a positive, diverse and inclusive institutional culture. Experience in bridging economic research and policy action and work at the science/policy interface are beneficial.

The faculty’s staff in economics is moving towards a departmental structure in which the new professorships will participate to the same extent as all other professorships in the common pool of staff and research infrastructures.
