The Department of Economics at the University of Calgary invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Microeconomic Theory. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024.

We are seeking a dynamic scholar who will establish and maintain an active research program in microeconomic theory. Applicants must have demonstrated strength in microeconomic theory and/or applied theory. Candidates with research applications in a broad array of fields are encouraged to apply (e.g. industrial organization, behavioral/experimental, energy and resources, environmental, international trade).

The successful applicant will be expected to teach core microeconomics courses and/or field courses, conduct high-quality research (evidenced by publications in leading peer-reviewed journals), securing external research funding, and maintaining an active profile in their field. Graduate program contributions include both teaching and supervising students.

Evidence of publication success will be provided through a strong sample of current research and a statement of research interests, outlining future research directions. Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated by a strong statement of teaching philosophy, outstanding teaching evaluations, and a record of commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching.
