Assistant Professor of the Practice in International Studies (International Economics)

The Boston College International Studies Program invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of the Practice, with a focus on international economics. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, long-term position, beginning with a renewable 3-year contract and including a pathway to promotion to associate and full professor of the practice (without tenure). The specific area of expertise is open, but it should be international or global in scope. The teaching load is five undergraduate courses per year; the appointment will begin in July 2024, with teaching duties beginning mid-August 2024. We seek a candidate who can contribute to the International Studies Program by providing excellent teaching informed by scholarship; engaged advising and mentoring to our diverse students; and service across the university.


A Ph.D. in economics, political science, public policy, sociology, or a related field is required and must be conferred before August 31, 2024. We welcome candidates who have professional experience outside of the academy, but all candidates must show evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching.
