The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) anticipates filling at least one Ph.D. level research economist position in the International Economic Accounts Research and Methodology Group.
BEA’s mission is to promote a better understanding of the U.S. economy by providing the most timely, relevant, and accurate economic accounts data. To achieve our mission objectives, we need highly qualified economists and other professionals equipped to develop new and innovative approaches to economic measurement that keep pace with the dynamic economy.
A successful economist in the international economic accounts area will join a team of research economists working on economic measurement methodologies and analysis of the international economic accounts. The team has access to BEA’s firm-level microdata of multinational enterprises in the United States and of U.S. international trade in services, and it collaborates with other U.S. statistical agencies to link data on relevant topics. The candidate is expected to conduct collaborative and/or independent research on measurement topics of importance to BEA's mission, work to implement the research in the U.S. international economic accounts, and present the research at conferences and publish in professional journals.
