Highly skilled and driven individual to work as a full-time Research Fellow covering environment/energy, public finance, trade, health, industrial organization, and labor. The start date will be summer or fall of 2024, though there is flexibility. I will hire on renewable one-year contracts, with preference for applicants who can work for two years.

Job responsibilities include managing projects, collecting and analyzing data, creating presentations, and editing manuscripts. Some projects involve the analysis of confidential data from the United States Census Bureau. I emphasize mentoring and training, and support and accommodate fellows taking classes, attending seminars, and becoming part of the research community at UC Berkeley.

Candidates should have an interest in pursuing research related to economics. This position is ideal for developing empirical research skills before applying to PhD programs in economics or related fields. Independent thinking, attention to detail, strong understanding of economic principles, and self-motivation are highly valued. I especially encourage applications from people of color, women, and other groups under-represented in economics.

BA/BS in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer/Data Science or other related disciplines required; previous experience as a research analyst or pursing independent research preferred; programming skills are necessary; ability to analyze data and write reports required.
