Visiting Assistant Professor, Economics

The Department of Economics: https://www.rollins.edu/economics/ at Rollins College welcomes applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor from candidates with a primary area of Heterodox Economics, with some combination of the following fields: Ecological, Economic History, Finance, Labor, History of Economic Thought, and Public Policy. Candidates will be expected to teach our core economic courses, including ECO 202, and Economics in Historical Perspectives, along with conducting electives on their fields of interest.

ECO 202 Introduces students to economics as a social science in which ideas and issues grow out of a historical context. ECO 202 also examines the evolution of the relationships among societies and institutions in different economic systems and highlights the emergence of diverse economic perspectives in their historical context. Principles and tools will be developed and applied for understanding historical and contemporary economic and social issues.

The department expects the ideal candidate to also be attracted to exploring alternative conceptual and ideological perspectives and to contribute to a pluralist economics department and evolving curriculum. The teaching load is four courses a semester, including the core courses in the major and electives.

Minimum Qualifications and Education:

• Ph.D. at the time of appointment is preferred, but ABDs will be considered.
• The successful candidate will also have a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in a liberal arts institution.
