The College of Agriculture and Natural Systems at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile seeks highly motivated candidates for a full-time Associate/Assistant Professor position in Environmental and Ecological Economics. The candidate chosen for this position will be a part of a highly experienced, diverse, and multifaceted team whose mission is to develop a new academic program in Natural Resources Engineering.

The ideal candidate would be a systems level thinker with strong quantitative skills. We are seeking an individual who would use these skills to research and quantify environmental and ecological economics problems. The candidate must have the ability to engage in existing research programs and to develop independent and innovative research on environmental and natural resource economics. Desirable expertise includes some or several of the following areas: nature conservation economics, climate change economics, ecological economics; policy making and efficient resource allocation; cost efficiency of nature based solutions; economics of environmental impacts; economics of socioecological transition. The successful candidate is expected to teach at least two undergraduate courses for natural resource engineering students and at least one graduate course related to the candidate's specific skills. One of the undergraduate courses is Introduction to Natural Resource Economics, and the second is a midlevel course in environmental and natural resource economics; all courses must be taught in Spanish.

The candidate is also expected to lead a research program within this area, being responsible for planning research activities and reporting to interested parties and scientific peers. Analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of findings will be done in the form of reports, presentations, and publications in scientific journals according to the standards set by Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Minimum/ Required Qualifications
1. Ph.D. in economics, natural resource economics, ecological economics, or similar at the date of appointment.

2. Demonstrated potential to develop a high-quality academic research program in the areas of her/his expertise.

3. Commitment to high-quality teaching and mentoring students at undergraduate and graduate level, promoting and enhancing diversity.

4. Excellent communication and team work skills

5. Evidence of research productivity.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Evidence of ability to develop theoretical and applied research.

2. Experience in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research.

3. Strong record of obtaining external funding.

4. Relevant experience in teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.
