Founded in 2018, SoDa Laboratories exists to discover social science insights from alternative data.

The Research Fellow will work closely with researchers at SoDa Labs on key research areas, combining applied economic and social science research with novel, alternative data tools such as internet-as-data or text-as-data. The Research Fellow will also have the opportunity to conduct independent research, leading to potential future grants and scholarly publications

The successful candidates will hold a PhD in either Economics or other related disciplines, experience related to Economics, Data Science, Programming, Statistics, or other data/computational areas and evidence of an emerging track record of high-quality, independent research. Demonstrated analytical, computational, and algorithmic skills in the use of alternative data methods such as text-as-data, image, remote sensing or audio data. Strong knowledge in the use of text-as-data, NLP and OCR tools is a particular advantage.
