Te tūranga – The role
The Senior Analyst is a pivotal role responsible for conducting in-depth analysis and/or research across a variety of areas to address complex questions and challenges facing both the New Zealand and global economies and financial markets.
In this role you will utilise your technical knowledge to help shape policies, support decision-making, and advance our understanding of central banking. The Senior Analyst collaborates within their immediate team and across their Directorate, Group, and wider Reserve Bank, offering mentorship and leadership to junior staff, and actively engaging in project groups.
Ō pūkenga – About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
A post-graduate degree in economics, finance, or a similar quantitative field (a PhD would be an advantage)
A minimum of three years of experience conducting high-quality research, preferably within a policy-making institution or as part of a PhD
Demonstrated capabilities in applying macro-econometric techniques
Expertise in programming languages (e.g. MATLAB, Python, or R)
Experience leading and contributing to the delivery of research projects
A robust understanding of interactions between economic factors, financial systems, and monetary and financial policies
The ability to share your skills and experience in order to coach and mentor more junior colleagues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical information to a non-technical audience
