The Department of Economics, Business, and Finance at Lake Forest College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level beginning fall 2025. Successful applicants must be able to teach Intermediate Microeconomics, contribute to the department’s core and elective curriculum, and advise senior theses and independent student projects. An ability to teach education, environmental, health, public, urban, or welfare economics would be valuable but is not required. An ability to contribute to the college’s interdisciplinary programs such as African American Studies, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Environmental Studies, First-Year Studies, International Relations, Latin American and Latinx Studies, Legal Studies, Public Policy, or Urban Studies would also be valued. The teaching load is 3-3, though the number of annual preps is usually held to four for assistant professors. A fully funded one-semester research sabbatical is available after successful completion of the third-year review. Members of the department are expected to develop a research agenda that leads to peer-reviewed publications. Mentoring students in research is expected. The position requires a PhD in economics. (ABD is acceptable as long as the degree is conferred prior to the start of the 25-26 academic year.)

Applicants who are unable to access the AEA’s job portal are invited to combine all materials in a single PDF file and submit it to Rob Lemke, chair of the search committee, as an attachment to an email sent to econsearch@lakeforest.edu using the applicant’s last name as the subject heading. In that case, have the letters of recommendation collated and sent similarly.
