The College of Liberal Arts at UT-Austin seeks a distinguished population scientist at the rank of Professor/Full Professor and Director of the Population Research Center (PRC), one of the nation’s premier NICHD-funded population centers. The position begins Fall 2025; start date for appointment as PRC director is negotiable. We seek applicants who have made major contributions to the development of innovative, pathbreaking research that speaks to critical population problems confronting the U.S. and global community and are committed to developing multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research and training of an outstanding community of faculty and students. Tenure home will be a social science department (e.g., Sociology, Economics, Psychology). Duties include undergraduate/graduate teaching, research, and service to the department/college/university. PRC director responsibilities include overseeing core services that support the development and management of large-scale research projects.
Required Qualifications: 1) a Ph.D. in a population science discipline; 2) demonstrated trajectory of independent research initiatives; 3) a strong record of extramural grantsmanship (e.g., NIH, NSF, foundation); 4) record of, or potential for, actively mentoring a community of faculty and graduate students in the development of cross-disciplinary, funded research; 5) a record of administrative experience and institutional leadership.
