Full Text of JOE Listing:

PPIC's Pre K-12 research group aims to recruit a research fellow who demonstrates significant interest in connecting PK-12 research to policymaking. Candidates ideally will bring substantive knowledge of and interest in working with a team of researchers on PK-12 policy research topics, including: school resources (funding, staffing, facilities), improving student outcomes (especially of historically marginalized groups), or college readiness. The research fellow will contribute to existing research, and develop new projects.

A doctorate or equivalent experience in economics, public policy, education, sociology, or a related discipline is preferred. Successful candidates will bring excellent quantitative and/or mixed methods research skills, plus strong skills in writing, external policy engagement, and communications. Candidates will have the ability to lead the design and planning of rigorous research studies using descriptive and quasi-experimental research designs for PK-12 topics. Demonstrated experience working with a team of researchers on quantitative data analysis using large datasets is required, as is proficiency with data analysis software such as STATA, R, or Python. Experience leading or overseeing mixed methods research is also valued.

PPIC is a nonprofit nonpartisan think tank, and uses independent, objective, nonpartisan research to inform and improve public policy in California.
