The Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC) is pleased to invite applications for various visiting fellowships on contemporary Asia, to begin in Autumn quarter 2025.
Next Asia Policy Visiting Fellowship
The Stanford Next Asia Policy Lab (SNAPL) is committed to addressing emergent social, cultural, economic, and political challenges in Asia through interdisciplinary, problem-oriented, policy-relevant, and comparative studies and publications. The lab is housed at Shorenstein APARC under the directorship of Professor Gi-Wook Shin. It focuses on four research themes: “Talent Flows and Development,” “Nationalism and Racism,” “U.S.-Asia Relations,” and “Democratic Crisis and Reform.”
Three visiting fellow positions are available, with one of them specifically dedicated to research on the Philippines.
Taiwan Program Visiting Fellowship
Hosted by APARC's new Taiwan Program, the visiting fellow position is awarded to one mid-career to senior-level expert with extensive experience studying contemporary Taiwan. The fellowship research focus is on issues related to how Taiwan can meet the challenges and opportunities of economic, social, technological, environmental, and institutional adaptation in the coming decades, using a variety of disciplines including the social sciences, public policy, and business
All fellows must be scholars and professionals with PhD degrees or substantial records of professional achievement.
