NBER's Post-Doctoral Fellowship on Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Economic Outcomes, supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, provides the opportunity for an early-career economist to visit NBER's Cambridge headquarters for a year of intensive research studying disparities in economic outcomes, particularly racial and ethnic disparities in wealth, labor market outcomes, and the impact of economic shocks such as downturns.
Applications from researchers just completing their PhDs, as well as from junior faculty who may be able to combine the fellowship with early career leave, are welcome.
The fellowship will provide a 12-month stipend of $97,500, reimbursement for health insurance, a travel and research allowance, and an office at the NBER’s Cambridge headquarters. Fellows are expected to spend the academic year at the NBER and fellowship-related activities are expected to represent their primary responsibility.
Applicants must have completed their PhD by June 2025. NBER strongly encourages applications from women, members of groups that have been under-represented in the economics profession, individuals with disabilities, and veterans. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents.
Applications must be marked “Complete” by the deadline to be considered.
