NBER’s Graduate (Pre-Doctoral) Fellowship Program in Aging and Health Research, supported by NIA, gives trainees exposure to a wide range of NBER research projects related to the economics of aging and health. Fellows pursue independent research while benefiting from opportunities for regular interaction with the NBER’s network of prominent investigators in this field.
Successful applications respond to NIA priorities for Health Economics and Aging Research and describe projects in which health outcomes and behaviors are the primary focus, with a clear connection to an improved understanding of health. The fellowship offers a 12-month stipend of $28,224 along with carrel space and computer facilities at the NBER’s Cambridge office; tuition support; and limited funds for travel/research expenses. All fellows are expected to spend the academic year in proximity to the NBER.
Applicants must be US citizens or lawfully admitted for permanent residence and enrolled as a PhD student in the greater Boston area. Students from other PhD programs who will be resident in the Boston area during the fellowship may also apply.
