One or more postdoctoral fellowships in economics are being offered through Columbia University to be supervised by Professor Joseph Stiglitz. The fellowships will last up to one year in duration, and occasionally, subject to the availability of funds, renewed for a second year, and the Fellows will participate in the research community at Columbia.

The Fellows will conduct their own research on a broad range of topics:

•Corporate and public power, labor and wages, and the economics of race and gender inequality
•Inequality and its relationship with macroeconomics and market power, particularly in the labor market
•Macroeconomics, including research on the causes of deep economic downturns and structural transformations
•Macro-economic externalities and the interconnections between financial and other markets
•The macroeconomic and structural impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic
•Inflation, the role of expectations, and the effects of deep uncertainty on macroeconomic fluctuations and crises
•Market power, misinformation, and disinformation, including in the media, their implications for systemic economic performance, and appropriate policy responses


•Industrial policies, especially their design and implementation in the U.S.
•Artificial intelligence, its effects on macroeconomic dynamics, income distribution, and long-term growth


•Sovereign Debt markets, including the implications of the design of sovereign debt contracts for debt sustainability.
•Financing for development
•The international financial architecture and sovereign debt crisis resolution
