Full Text of JOE Listing:
Institute of Economic Research, Hitotsubashi University invites applications for full-time, open-rank, tenure-line positions beginning July 1, 2025. We welcome outstanding candidates in all areas of economics, but are most interested in researchers who conduct empirical economic analysis using micro data. We have up to four open positions. The institute's preference is that the appointment be associate professor (with or without tenure) and full professor (with tenure), but appointment at the rank of tenure-track assistant or advanced assistant professor is also possible.
The successful candidate will be expected to pursue excellent scholarship, teach courses related to the candidates' research field, supervise M.A. and Ph.D. students and contribute to the overall academic environment of the Institute of Economic Research and the university. The working language is English or Japanese (Japanese language skills are preferred but not required). The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in economics or a related field (candidates must have the Ph.D. degree in hand or have fulfilled all requirements for the degree by the start of the appointment) and a record that demonstrates promise of excellent research and teaching.
