The Department of Economics in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University invites applications for the Noah Langdale, Jr. Eminent Scholar Chair and Professor. In collaboration with the Georgia Research Alliance, this endowed chair position will provide generous resources to advance the field of experimental economics and provide leadership to the Experimental Economics Center (ExCEN). Qualified candidates should have a record of publications and sponsored research appropriate for tenure and appointment at the rank of Professor at Georgia State University. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in economics or a closely related discipline.

Candidates must have an exceptional record of published research, significant contributions to economics as empirical science, and an established national and international reputation for excellence in leadership of the field. Preference will be given to candidates whose research exhibits a close integration of experimental methods with theoretical modeling. A record of success in obtaining sponsored funding is important as is the ability to mentor graduate students. Secondary areas of preference that candidates might contribute to include environmental economics and public economics.

The Noah Langdale, Jr. Eminent Scholar Chair will join an elite group of eminent scholars dedicated to advancing research and entrepreneurship. The Chair will offer an initial term of five years and may be renewable upon successful evaluation. The Chair will contribute to shaping the future of economics education, research, and impact, and to driving strategic initiatives that align with the university’s commitment to student success, innovation, and engaged research.

This position is located on the Atlanta campus of Georgia State University and requires in-person, on campus-based work. The Andrew Young School maintains a flexible work environment. This position is planned to begin August 2025.
