The Economics Department at Clark University invites applications for an open-rank Visiting Professor position starting in fall 2025. This is a full-time, one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal or conversion to a tenure-track position, contingent on performance and funding availability; a very strong candidate may negotiate a two-year appointment to start. We seek candidates whose research focuses on the macroeconomic impacts of climate change and who have demonstrated ability to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Macroeconomic Growth at the PhD level, Environmental Economics at the undergraduate level, and other core or elective courses for the undergraduate program. We welcome applications from new PhDs as well as those who have recently retired or are on leave from other academic institutions. We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives within the University’s new School of Climate, Environment and Society (CES), which will launch in fall 2025.
Located in eastern Massachusetts, Clark University is a liberal arts research university with a mission to educate undergraduate and graduate students to be imaginative and contributing citizens of the world, and to advance the frontiers of knowledge and understanding through rigorous scholarship and creative effort. We believe that cultivating an environment that embraces and promotes diversity is fundamental to the success of our students, our employees and our community. This commitment applies to every aspect of education, services, and employment policies and practices at Clark. Our commitment to diversity informs our efforts in recruitment, hiring, and retention. All positions at Clark share in the responsibility for building a community that values diversity and the uniqueness of others by exhibiting integrity and respect in interacting with all members of the Clark community to create an atmosphere of fairness and belonging. Applicants should submit a current CV; a research statement; a recent research paper; a teaching statement and evidence of teaching effectiveness (if available); three letters of recommendation; and a one-page diversity statement describing how, through their research, teaching, and/or service, they may help advance Clark’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. For tenured applicants, the reference letters are not required until the final interview stage (on-campus or virtual). Review of applications will begin in January 2025 and continue until the position is filled.
