Current exemplary matters include antitrust and competition matters including allegations such as price fixing and exclusionary practices, merger reviews and enforcement actions, class action litigation, breach of contract litigation, misleading marketing or false claims, and actions involving data privacy and data breach claims.
The Applied Research Center at Cornerstone Research is a team of specialists in highly technical areas of economics, finance, behavioral science, and technology that offers cutting-edge and data-intensive analysis on complex cases, complementing the work of case teams. The Applied Research Center helps the firm innovate and drive progress, our specialists employing techniques at the forefront of academia to provide the most impactful analysis for the firm and our clients.
The Healthcare and Life Sciences Specialist Role
The Applied Research Center is recruiting a Healthcare and Life Sciences (HCLS) Specialist to expand Cornerstone Research’s capabilities in delivering high-quality and innovative economic analysis in litigation and regulatory matters involving companies in the healthcare, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices industries.
The Specialist will work alongside case teams, experts, and our clients to:
•Contribute to high-quality delivery on cases, by consulting or embedding in case teams to deploy their specialized knowledge and experience in healthcare and life sciences. Participate in brainstorming, issue spotting, and outlining of potential analyses at different stages of the case. Lead teams in applying both commonly used and innovative analytical tools and approaches, and adapting those tools to specific case needs. Conduct case-specific reviews of data, academic research, and methodological approaches.
•Incorporate and expand the firm’s research capabilities with cutting edge techniques. Help the practice ensure that approaches used are at the forefront of the techniques in academia and industry. Help develop tools to make project delivery more efficient and cost effective, such as data processing automation or developing relevant databases.
•Advise on data sources and relevant regulations. Act as an internal expert on data sources and the regulatory landscape. Advise and educate teams on appropriate public and third-party data sources (e.g., IQVIA, Medicare and Medicaid data, claims data from insurers and providers, HCAI data), relevant detail of the regulatory landscape (e.g., FDA approval requirements, Hatch-Waxman, BPCIA), and government programs (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid). Research and build knowledge base of developing data sources.
•Conduct knowledge sharing and training across the practice. Educate teams and contribute to the development and dissemination of case experience across the practice. Develop reusable case resources (e.g., template data request and intake) and training materials to share knowledge on analytical approaches, data sources, and relevant regulations. Disseminate best practices and innovative techniques on analytical approaches, relevant literature, data sources, and case experience.
•Conduct thought leadership efforts. Contribute to the publication of public-facing thought leadership articles and delivery of presentations at conferences, webinars, and other venues.
•Business development. Develop marketing materials, conduct expert searches, and assist in the help teams to prepare materials showcasing the firm’s capabilities and potential approaches to specific case opportunities. Prepare experts for promo calls and participate in calls with clients and experts. Engage with experts through conference participation, presentations at Cornerstone, and one-on-one relationship development. Conduct external marketing, including delivery of client presentations on key HCLS topics.
Candidate Profile
Candidates for this role will have a strong entrepreneurial attitude, be able to work effectively in teams, manage multiple stakeholders, be good at time management and handling multiple competing priorities.
We are looking for candidates who have a Ph.D., ABD or Master’s degree in Economics, Public Health, or Policy Analysis, and four or more years of experience working in roles that involve data-intensive research and analytics in the healthcare and life science fields.

Cornerstone Research offers a market-leading compensation and benefits package. The base salary for the Healthcare and Life Sciences Specialist ranges from $265,000 to $270,000. In addition to the base salary, Healthcare and Life Sciences Specialists will be eligible for a signing bonus depending on skills, education, and experience. Healthcare and Life Sciences Specialists are eligible for discretionary bonuses based on performance, firm contributions, and other factors.
