ASSA 2020 Job Placement and Interviewing Information
New Procedures for Job Market Interviews at the ASSA Meetings
EMPLOYERS ONLY: Hotel Suite Reservations are now open. (Employers MUST have a suite code to reserve a suite.)
|
As you may know, the AEA is taking steps with the goal of improving the climate of the economics profession. One of those steps is the adoption of the AEA Code of Professional Conduct (https://www.aeaweb.org/about-aea/code-of-conduct) that was adopted by the Executive Committee in April 2018 after consultation with the membership. The code of conduct was supplemented by a more detailed Policy on Harassment and Discrimination (https://www.aeaweb.org/about-aea/aea-policy-harassment-discrimination), adopted in March 2019. Acknowledgement and acceptance of both the code and the policy will be required for any individual prior to registration for the ASSA meetings. Another critical step in this endeavor is to eliminate the practice of holding job interviews in standard hotel bedrooms.
While interviewing in suites is considered acceptable, the AEA is strongly discouraging conducting interviews in a regular hotel room. The ASSA is therefore presenting several interviewing options for the 2020 annual meeting.
Suites
All available suites will be sold only to employers conducting interviews. A suite code will be required to reserve a suite.
- Suite reservations will open at 11:00 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, September 10th prior to general attendee registration and housing which opens at 11:00 a.m. EDT on Thursday, September 19th.
- To obtain a code necessary to reserve a suite, complete a request form at the following link https://cmrus.formstack.com/forms/assa2020_suitemeetingrequest. A separate code will be required for each suite requested.
- A unique code will be sent via email, and this will be necessary to reserve a suite on September 10th. To be guaranteed a code prior to opening day of suite reservations, a suite request must be submitted by 9:00 p.m. EDT on September 8th.
