The Department of Economics at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning fall 2024 in the area of applied microeconomics. This position is made possible through the support of the Vanderbilt Center for Research on Inequality and Health. The ideal candidate will have a research portfolio that could attract external support (e.g., NIH, NSF, IES, DOJ, CDC, or private foundations). Advanced assistant professors within 4 years or so of their Ph.D. with a demonstrated record of securing grant funding and excellence in research and teaching are strongly encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. in economics is required. Exact field of specialization is open and may include health economics, labor economics, public economics, development economics, or economic history. This is a university-funded, 9-month tenure-track position with a tenure home in the Department of Economics.

The Vanderbilt Center for Research on Inequality and Health was launched in 2022 and is a trans-institutional collaboration between the College of Arts and Science and the School of Nursing. The Center brings together economists, sociologists, psychologists, health services researchers, nursing scientists, and public policy scholars to study the causes and consequences of health-related inequalities.
Vanderbilt stresses excellence in research and teaching in its doctoral, masters, and undergraduate programs. A Ph.D. is required by August 1, 2024.
