Heterodox Feminist Economics and Development Economics

The Economics and Society stream, within The Department of Economics, Faculty of Arts at the University of Manitoba, invites applications for a full-time probationary (tenure-track) appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates must have a PhD in Economics, or be close to completion, with a specialization in Heterodox Feminist Economics and Development Economics. Candidates must demonstrate the potential of excellence in research and teaching. To promote greater gender balance, preference will be given to candidates who self-identify in one or more of the following groups: women and people of marginalized gender identities and gender expression. The appointment may begin on or after July 1, 2024. The salary for the position will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the chosen candidate.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include:
• In-person undergraduate and graduate teaching, including the opportunity to teach in computer-mediated delivery modes, in heterodox feminist economics, development economics, and political economy as well as other courses in the department. Teaching courses in the Economics and Society stream requires familiarity with economic history, the history of economic thought, philosophy of social science, and heterodox as well as mainstream perspectives on economic theory and policy. The usual course load is two courses in each of the fall and winter terms.

Additional Information:

A successful candidate who is close to the completion of their PhD may be appointed to a term position at the rank of Lecturer until successful completion of their degree, at which time they will convert to a probationary (tenure-track) appointment as an Assistant Professor.
