Call for Applications: CeMENT Mentoring Workshops for Junior Faculty
APPLICATION DEADLINE: 15 August 2023
Workshops for Junior Faculty: June 25-27, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois.
CSWEP will host two CeMENT Workshops for junior faculty in the summer of 2024 in Chicago, IL -- one for junior faculty in PhD granting institutions and one for junior faculty in non-PhD granting institutions. Each mentorship workshop is designed for women and non-binary junior faculty in tenure-track positions in economics departments or other institutions in North America with similar research, teaching, and service expectations.
The workshops will consist of a two-and-a-half-day program, beginning Tuesday, June 25, and ending after lunch on Thursday, June 27. The AEA will cover lodging and meals for all participants during the workshop. A travel fund is available with limited allowances for mentees whose institutions cannot cover the airfare. Participants will be arranged into small groups and assigned to mentors based on their research area. Group members and mentors discuss and offer feedback on the participants' research. In addition, the workshops include sessions on topics such as publishing, managing service, effective and efficient teaching, developing a tenure case, and networking. We are excited about the opportunity to continue CSWEP's tradition of mentoring female and non-binary junior faculty. We hope you will apply and look forward to seeing you at one of our workshops.
The common application portal will open on July 1, 2023, and close on August 15, 2023. You will be informed of your acceptance by the end of October 2023. We expect that, as was the case in past years, the number of qualified applicants will far exceed the workshops' capacity (approximately 40 junior participants per program). In this case, we will slightly prefer participants earlier in their tenure clock.
