2022 CSWEP Mid-Career & Junior Mentoring Breakfasts: Call for Mentors
CSWEP is seeking mentors for the Annual CSWEP Mentoring "Breakfast" for Junior Economists and the Annual Peer Mentoring "Breakfast" for Mid-Career Economists to be held at the upcoming 2022 Virtual AEA/ASSA Meetings.
As most of you know, CSWEP traditionally hosts mentoring breakfasts at the AEA meetings. This year will look a little different since the meetings are virtual again. We have chosen January 8-9, 2022 from 2:30-3:30 PM ET to host our virtual mentoring get-togethers. There should be no standard sessions during these slots, and the later time should accommodate participants in more time zones.
10th Annual CSWEP Mentoring Breakfasts for Junior Economists
CSWEP's intent is to provide an informal setting in which junior economists of any gender can solicit professional advice from senior economists. The junior event will be held on Zoom on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 2:30-3:30 PM ET. For this event, we are seeking mentor volunteers. Mentor volunteers can be of any gender identity but should be tenured or have achieved the equivalent status in a government agency or other nonacademic setting. If you fit this description, we hope you will be willing to spend an hour mingling with and answering questions from junior economists.
8th Annual Peer Mentoring Breakfast for Mid-Career Economists
This mentoring experience is intended for women-identifying or nonbinary economists who are tenured academics at either the associate or full rank, or non-academics who are 8+ years post-PhD. We are looking for women-identifying or non-binary economists who are at the rank of full professor (or equivalent) who are willing to serve as mentors/table leaders. The mid-career event will be held on Zoom on Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 2:30-3:30 PM ET. This event is not open to graduate students or junior faculty.
If you are willing to participate as a mentor in any "breakfast", simply send an email to info@cswep.org and indicate the date(s) you can join us. Feel free to invite your senior colleagues and friends to serve as mentors as well.
Also, please encourage your mid-career and junior colleagues and graduate students on the job market to register for the events as mentees. Details are available on the CSWEP website and a general announcement will go out shortly. The deadline to volunteer is November 15, 2021.
