AEA Annual Elections. The Nominating Committee, consisting of William Nordhaus (Chair), Marianne Bertrand, Dora Costa, Dennis Epple, Drew Fudenberg, Ulrike Malmendier, Cecilia Rouse and Hal Varian submitted its nominations for Vice-Presidents and members of the Executive Committee. The Electoral College, consisting of the Nominating Committee and Executive Committee meeting together, selected the nominee for President-elect. The 2017 slate of candidates for 2018 Officers is:

Congratulations to the 2017 John Bates Clark Medalist Dave Donaldson. Awarded annually to an economist under the age of 40, the John Bates Clark Medal recognizes outstanding research accomplishments in economics. The 2017 AEA Distinguished Fellows are James Heckman, Charles Manski, Robert Pollak and Nancy Stokey. The Distinguished Fellow award recognizes the lifetime research contributions of up to four distinguished economists. The annual American Economic Journal (AEJ) Best Paper Award highlights the best paper published in each of the American Economic Journals: Applied Economics, Economic Policy, Macroeconomics, and Microeconomics over the last three years. Nominations are provided by AEA members, and winners are selected by the journals' editors, co-editors, and boards of editors. AEA Editor Transition. The AEA Executive Committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Gilchrist as the new lead editor for the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics beginning January 2018. Gilchrist currently serves as a co-editor of the journal. We wish to thank outgoing Editor Richard Rogerson for his outstanding effort devoted to making the AEJ:Macroeconomics journal included among the most respected scholarly journal in economics.
Registration closes on Friday, May 5th for The National Conference on Teaching and Research in Economic Education (CTREE). The conference hosted by the AEA Committee on Economic Education in cooperation with the Journal of Economic Education and the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City – Denver Branch will be held May 31 - June 2, 2017 at the Westin Denver Downtown.
