The early registration deadline for the ASSA Annual Meeting is December 3, 2022. Register now at https://www.aeaweb.org/conference for the lowest rates! The registration fee will increase from $140 to $195 after the deadline. Follow us on Twitter @ASSAMeeting to receive program updates and other developments before and during the meetings.

The preliminary program is available at https://www.aeaweb.org/conference/2023/preliminary. Printed programs will not be provided. A pdf will be available for download; the best option for navigating the meeting, however, is the 2023 ASSA mobile app. Registered participants should watch their email for details. In addition to accessing the program, the mobile app allows users to find locations on hotel floor maps, comment on sessions, browse exhibitors, create a schedule in advance, read paper abstracts, follow twitter activity, and more.

More than 200 posters are included on the 2023 AEA program and will be available for viewing throughout the conference. Don't forget to allocate time for this thought-provoking part of the meetings. 

The 2023 AEA Continuing Education Program will occur immediately after the annual meeting on January 8-10, 2023. Participants can choose from two concurrent programs. Topics and speakers are:

• Machine Learning and Big Data – Melissa Dell (Harvard University) and Matthew Harding (University of California, Irvine)
• Techniques of Empirical Macroeconomics– Òscar Jordà (Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and University of California, Davis) and Karel Mertens (Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas)

The Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP) invites you to attend its Annual Business Meeting and Award Ceremony Luncheon as well as the CSWEP Reception during the 2023 ASSA meeting, where the committee will honor the 2022 Carolyn Shaw Bell and Elaine Bennett Research Prize award winners. The Committee has also organized several research sessions and will host a mentoring breakfast for junior economists and a peer mentoring breakfast for mid-career women. The Committee on the Status of LGBTQ+ Individuals in the Economics Profession (CSQIEP, pronounced “C-Sqwip”) will host an in-person business luncheon, two research sessions, and one social reception at the 2023 ASSA meeting. The business luncheon will be Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 12:30 – 2:15 pm and will feature an address by Trevon Logan and presentation of the Committee’s Annual Award for Outstanding Research in the Economics of LGBTQ+ People. A CSQIEP session featuring LGBTQ-identified researchers working in labor economics will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 10:15 am – 12:15 pm. The other session (“Pink Papers”) will feature research addressing LGBTQ-related topics and will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 2:30 – 4:30 pm. A social hour will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. All conference registrants are welcome to attend all activities. The AEA's Committee on the Job Market will host an interactive webinar on the job market for new Ph.D. economists on Thursday, December 1, from 3:00 – 4:00 pm ET. The purpose of the webinar is to allow those on the job market in 2022-23 to ask questions of the committee and other panelists with experience and expertise in various job market sectors for Ph.D. economists. The application portal for the 2023 AEA Summer Economics Fellows Program will open December 1. This program allows graduate students and junior faculty to spend a summer as a member of the research community at a participating institution while engaged in a research project of their own choosing. Fellows are mentored by experienced economists both on scientific issues and career issues such as negotiating publications, the job market, and advancement strategies. The Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession (CSMGEP) is pleased to announce that the application portal for the 2023 AEA Summer Program, to be hosted by Howard University in Washington DC, is now open. The AEA Summer Program is a prestigious program that uniquely enables students to prepare for the rigors of graduate studies—particularly at the PhD level—through two months of intensive training in microeconomics, math, econometrics, and research methods with leading faculty. Expanding Diversity in Undergraduate Classes with Advancements in (the) Teaching (of) Economics (EDUCATE) Workshop. The AEA’s Outreach Task Force and the Committee on Economic Education are pleased to announce the EDUCATE workshop will be held in conjunction with the AEA 2023 Conference on Teaching and Research in Economic Education (CTREE) in Portland, Oregon. The workshop will be conducted both in-person and via Canvas beginning Friday, June 2, 2023, and concluding on Sunday, June 4, 2023. The registration fee of $100 includes all meals during the conference and two nights of hotel accommodations for those that complete the entire workshop. See EDUCATE Workshop for details. Applications for the 2023 workshop will open on January 2, 2023.

The portal for nominations for the 2023 AEJ Best Paper Awards opens December 1 at https://www.aeaweb.org/journals/aej/best-paper-nominations. The awards will be announced in April 2023, selected from articles published in the 2020 through 2022 volumes of each AEJ.
