Joint Panel Roundtables

 

CSQIEP/CSWEP co-hosted a joint panel on Solutions/Innovative Ideas for Addressing DEI Issues at the 2023 ASSA Annual Meeting in New Orleans.

This event was co-sponsored by the American Economic Association's Committee on the Status of LGBTQ+ Individuals in the Economics Profession (CSQIEP) and the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP). The panel was organized and moderated by Marionette Holmes, of Spellman College. The panelists included Douglas Bernheim, Stanford University, Reena Aggarwal, Georgetown University, and Kitt Carpenter, Vanderbilt University.

 

CSWEP/CSMGEP co-hosted a joint panel on Launching a Professional Development Initiative at the 2020 ASSA Annual Meeting in San Diego.

This event was co-sponsored by the American Economic Association's Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP), the AEA Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession (CSMGEP) and the NSF-funded AEA Mentoring Program.

The panel was organized by Judy Chevalier, Yale University and moderated by Peter B. Henry of New York University.  The panelists include Martha Bailey, University of Michigan, Marie Mora, University of Missouri - St. Louis, Maya Rossin-Slater, Stanford University and Anna Opoku-Agyeman, Harvard University.

 

The AEA and The Washington Post co-hosted a workshop for female economists on "How to Excel in Media Interviews" at the 2020 ASSA Annual Meeting in San Diego.

What makes a great media interview? How do you prep for TV versus radio versus "print"? How do you pitch a reporter? How can you get your point across without too much jargon? Should you answer questions outside your research or field? Top journalists share insider tips and conduct practice interviews to help female economists enhance their media skills. The speakers include Heather Long, The Washington Post, Steve Liesman, CNBC, Jeanna Smialek, The New York Times, Stacey Vanek Smith, NPR, and Greg Ip, The Wall Street Journal.
